FIFA to set up research center to shed light on mysterious soccer deaths
LJUBLJANA, Slovenia — FIFA plans to establish a medical research center in response to a series of heart-related deaths on soccer fields around the world, president Sepp Blatter said Wednesday.
Blatter’s comments came only two days after 28-year-old Slovene goalkeeper Nedzad Botonjic suddenly collapsed and died during training.
